Roatan, bay islands, Honduras

So we made it out to Roatan after a very treacherous ferry ride. You know it's going to be bad when they give you a sea sick pill and sick bag when you buy your ticket. The wave swells were atleast 10ft high so you can just imagine being on the boat for 2 hours! luckily Glenn and I did not get sick but definitely not feeling great afterwards. The island is very nice with lots of swimming beaches and great snorkeling and diving. We did 2 dives yesterday and it was crazy cheap only $25 per dive! The reef here is really nice. We are planning on going to the beach today once it stops pooring. Tomorrow we have a 16 hr day of travel... ouch! Will let you know how that goes:) talk soon.

Copan, Honduras

So we have started our tour, we are now in Copan. We had a private bus yesterday that brought us from Antigua to Copan and there are 15 people in our group. Americans, Germans, English and other Canadians so a good variety. Today we went on a tour of the Copan ruins, they were neat different from the ones in Tikal. These ones had more carvings which made them more unique. Tomorrow we set out to Roatan in the Bay Islands which will be awesome for beaching it and some more diving. Its an 8hr bus ride and 2hr ferry ride so we are in for a long travel day. Its ok though it always takes time to get to paradise:) Our tour guide Isaac is from Costa Rica and is super helpful with information. So far so good! looking forward to our next stop. Adios!
Pics: traffic in Guatemala city, can you believe how much luggage is on that bus? just think what the inside looked like! and copan ruins.

Antigua, Guatemala

Well we survived the bus trip from Flores to Guatemala city. I feel that everyone needs to experience an over night bus in central America before u have lived. You start off in the local bus station where every eye is on u uncomfortable is an under statement. Once u get on the bus u hand your luggage over and cross your fingers it will make it! if u have to pee the door doesn't close so being a woman makes it very difficult to squat and hold the door, oh did I mention the light didn't work either:) needless to say I held my bladder for the next 9hrs. Men definitly have it alot easier in this department Glenn could just stand and the light worked for him, so he didn't have to hold his bladder, just the door. Make sure u stay asleep cause when u open your eyes and the bus is passing a tanker and another one is head on u want to be asleep again. All in all we arrived safe and sound and our mini bus did arrive in Guatemala city to take us to Antigua. We are enjoying Antigua it is a cute city with old buildings, lots of character and great restaurants and places to see. It is surrounded by 4 volcanos which is pretty cool. The people have been super nice and we have been able to use lots of Spanish. We meet with our tour group tonight and head to Copan Honduras tomorrow. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Adios!

Tikal, Guatemala

Today we did a day trip to Tikal, we were up early (3:50am:) to get to the national park before the crowds which was early but super nice! We got great pictures of the ruins and some wildlife, spider monkeys, fist size grasshoppers, moths the length of your palm and tarantula's. Yes real live hairy spiders walking around your feet:) The bugs here are on steroids! It was a great trip our guide was very good. We are at our hotel to shower and relax before we catch our overnight bus to Guatemala city then Antigua. We meet up with our volcano trail tour group Sunday night so we have 2 days to sight see around Antigua. Have heard great things about Antigua so we are really looking forward to it. Hope everyone had a great week and enjoy your weekend! Adios!

Flores, Guatemala

Nobody told me that the 8am water taxi from San Pedro to Belize city was a convict transfer! Nothing like 8 men all handcuffed together sitting right behind you speaking Creole (pretty much English slang) asking for money! gotta get your last buck to buy goods in Jail!!! Nice way to start a morning:) We took a 4hr bus ride and crossed the boarder over into Guatemala. Flores is a cute little city surrounded by a lake with old buildings and cobblestone streets. Tomorrow we will be getting picked up at 430am ouch! to do a day trip to Tikal. We are going so early to see the jungle awaken eeek! Should be fun, it will be an early night tonight. Been using some Spanish here not as much English but we r doing ok so far! Well that's all for now. Buenos Noches!

Ambergris Caye

We didn't think it was possible but we thought it felt extra hot today so checked the weather and it said 47 degrees with the humidity OMG! I think we have lost ten pounds of sweat today! We are here till Thursday then we head back to Belize city to catch a bus to Flores Guatamala. Today we rented bikes and did a tour of the island, a lovely gentleman ran into me with his golf cart oblivious to it all, some people! I'm ok no damage done just a good story:) We have met lots of Americans no Canadians but it makes for interesting conversations with there election coming up. We met a belizian guy yesterday who called himself black thunder, he was convinced that we must be from a fairy tale like the cat in the hat since our names rhyme. He thinks we should name our first child after him could u imagine a little white boy who is the son of an accountant named black thunder I can't. Ha ha! So when we get to Flores we will do a day trip Friday to Tikal which are myan ruins and then we will take an overnight bus to Guatamala City so if we survive we will blog again:)  Well that's all for now we r off to the pool to cool off. Hope everyone is well! Xo

Today we did our "pool"  dives which were actually in the ocean haha! All in all a great couple days minus my first jelly fish sting! OUCH! Tomorrow we head out for our first 2 open water dives on the reef which we r really looking forward to. The food has been great so far we have been trying a new place for each meal, adventursome for Mr Glenn! Getting more accustomed to the 42 degrees just accepting u will always be damp:) all is well, chat soon!!
